Visitors

A sign-in app built for the gangway,
not the front desk.

Plenty of vessels run an office visitor app at the gangway. It signs people in and out, and that is where it stops. The gangway asks more of it.

What a lobby never has to think about.

An office app checks people in. A vessel checks people in under the ISPS Code, and the check-in has to carry that.

The security level runs the screen

At Level 1, one visitor in twenty is searched. At Level 2, one in five. At Level 3, everyone. A visitor due a search is held at the screen until a crew member's PIN clears it. How the ISPS check-in works

The agreement, signed first

The visitor agreement or NDA is signed on the iPad before boarding and kept with the visit. A badge prints with their name, company and who they are visiting.

ID, scanned and read

The visitor's ID document is scanned at check-in and read on the iPad. The record keeps the document photo and whether the name on it matched the one they gave.

The result is the record port state control asks for: visitor, came in, left, searched by, and both signatures, exported as a PDF. ISPS visitor log requirements

Still fifteen seconds at the door.

None of that slows the queue. The check-in is built for a yard period, which puts more people over the gangway in a week than a season of guests.

Return visitorsA returning contractor is recognised by name and their details offered from the last visit. Most are through in about fifteen seconds.
No WiFi at the yardCheck-ins and sign-outs queue on the iPad and sync when the connection returns.
The end of the dayAutomatic checkout signs out everyone still on the board at a time you set. An overstay email tells you if someone is aboard past it.
Flag a visitorFlag someone once, with the reason. If they check in again, even months later under a new record, every admin on the vessel gets an email at that moment.

The sign-in is the first feature, not the only one.

The same iPad runs the crew board, and the muster drill is called from who is actually aboard. An office app cannot follow you there.

The crew board

Crew sign in and out on the same screen visitors use, or from their own phones. The board always says who is aboard right now.

Muster and drills

The drill starts from the board, not last month's crew list. Roll call runs on the iPad, and every crew member carries their own station and duties on their phone. How muster works
